Second phase of Budget Session of Odisha Legislative Assembly to resume tomorrow

The second and last phase of the Odisha budget will resume on August 20 and continue until September 13, focussing primarily on the demands and discussion over the budget.
The first session of the 17th Odisha Assembly commenced on July 22 last . The first BJP government in Odisha led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Maji presented the median full budget for the fiscal 2024-25 on June 25.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who also holds the finance portfolio, presented the budget for the 2024-25 fiscal amounting to Rs 2.65 lakh crore. On July 31 the house passed Appropriation Bill on Vote on Account for two months ending September.
The session was adjourned on July 31 for a brief period to enable the Departmental Standing Committees to review and recommend on the budgetary provisions for 2024-25.
As per the schedule, the second and last phase of budget session of Odisha Assembly will focus on the discussion on demand for grants relating to budget.
Meanwhile a two day Orientation programme was organized by the Assembly for the newly elected members amid boycott by the opposition BJD and Congress.
Union Parliamentary Affairs minister, Kiren Rijiju inaugurated the Orientation programme.
