Heat Wave Death Toll Crosses 1600 In Andhra Pradesh

Andhra pradesh Continued to bleed with the heat wave with the toll rising to 1636, and the weather office warning that the condtion would prevail over many parts of in the districts of Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore of Coastal Andhra Pradesh for one more day.

The prevailing heat wave has claimed 146 lives across the state in the last 24 hours taking the toll to 1636 since the second week of May, 2015, state Disaster Manager officials said here tonight. Of these, Prakasam recorded the highest number of deaths with 333 people falling victims, followed by Guntur (233), Visakhapatnam (185), East Godavari (192), Vizianagaram (177), Nellore (163), Krishna (78), Chittoor (64), Srikakulam (60).

The heatwave has also claimed 56 lives in Anantapur, 38 in Kadapa ,34 in Kurnool and 23 in West Godavari district, the officials added. Yesterday, the highest maxium temperature of 47 deg Cel was recorded at Jangamaheshwarapuram in Guntur district
