Nestle India Withdraws Maggi Off Shelves

With several states banning sale of Maggi Noodle finding excess MSG and lead in it, Nestle India today said it has decided to withdraw the product off the shelves in the midst of ”environment of confusion for the consumer”.

“The trust of our consumers and the safety of our products is our first priority.

Unfortunately, recent developments and unfounded concerns about the product have led to an environment of confusion for the consumer, to such an extent that we have decided to withdraw the product off the shelves, despite the product being safe,” the multinational Nestle said in a statement.

Several states have banned the popular Maggi Noodle off the shelves of the stores while the Centre has also swung into action approaching the consumer forum.

Gujarat,Tamil Nadu, Delhi ,Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir states imposed ban on Maggi noodles.

The issue is now being handled at the highest level in view of the ramifications for the health of consumers as also for the business environment.
