National Biodiversity Authority extends financial assistance of over 6 crore to states and UTs
New Delhi, February 11
The National Biodiversity Authority has extended financial assistance of more than 6 crore rupees to State Biodiversity Boards and Union Territory Biodiversity Councils.
The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change said that this assistance is aimed at reinforcing statutory institutions, improving the quality of biodiversity documentation and accelerating implementation of Access and Benefit Sharing mechanisms at the grassroots level.
It further said that the support is being provided under the Biological Diversity (Amendment) Act, 2023, which mandates conservation, sustainable use and equitable benefit sharing arising from biological resources.
