New Delhi, June 09
Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Land Port Management System (LPMS), ‘Vinimay’, in New Delhi to digitize and streamline cargo processing and passenger movement across India’s land borders on Tuesday. The system is a digital platform designed to integrate operations across land ports into a unified system. It will enable secure, real-time exchange of logistics and regulatory information, bringing land ports on a par with digital systems already in place at airports and seaports.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Shah said, the initiative marks a significant step towards building a modern and technology-driven border management system. He said, the platform is aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and will strengthen trade facilitation, connectivity and national security. The Home Minister said, land ports have not only enhanced border security and increased trade but have also helped curb illegal encroachment and unauthorized activities.

Mr. Shah emphasized that the government is committed to strengthening border security through the adoption of digital technologies and efficient management systems. He said, the launch of the Vinimay platform marks an important milestone in the country’s efforts to further strengthen border security and improve the overall functioning of land ports.

Highlighting the achievements of the government over the last 12 years, he said, Mr Modi is set to become the country’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister. He said, the government has focused on welfare-driven development and inclusive growth through initiatives related to housing, sanitation, healthcare and clean drinking water. He added that more than 25 crore people have moved out of multidimensional poverty during this period, while over 80 crore people have benefited from various social welfare measures. The Home Minister said, the government’s focus on transparency, efficiency and technology-driven reforms has helped India emerge as one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies.
