Opposition shying away from discussion on NEET paper leak issue, says Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that Home Minister Amit Shah wrote a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla stating once again that he is open to having a detailed discussion on the several incidents that took place during the protest on NEET paper leak issue.

Talking to reporters in the Parliament complex, the Minister said, the government itself is saying that it is ready for a discussion and will provide answers, but the Opposition does not want to hear the answers and is shying away from the discussion. Mr Rijiju said that he is deeply saddened as the opposition members of Parliament are not allowing Parliament to function properly.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal has accused the Opposition of repeatedly changing its stand on discussions in Parliament. Talking to reporters at Parliament premises he alleged that the Opposition initially demanded a discussion, but changed its stand after the government agreed to it. Mr Goyal said the government has been in continuous dialogue with the Opposition since the beginning of the Monsoon Session.

He said the government had also made changes in Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, and repeatedly appealed to the Opposition to participate in discussions. He alleged that Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi is responsible for disrupting the proceedings.
