States Join Nation To Mark Yoga Day

All States of the country Sunday joined to mark the event. Union Ministers, criss-crossed the country to take part in the celebrations. Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Lucknow, Communication and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad in Kolkata and BJP President Amit Shah in Patna among others took part in the events to mark the day.
Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir joined the rest of the country to celebrate the international yoga day. Our Ladakh correspondent reports that the Indian army posted at forward places of Ladakh region has left no stone unturned to join the world to celebrate the international yoga day.
In Jammu, the main programme was held at Parade Ground.
In Assam, Union Sports Minister Sarbanand Sonowal attended the yoga camp at Khanapara in Guwahati. Thousands of students, security personnel, citizens and NCC volunteers among others took part in the Yoga Day events.
In Meghalaya, NCC cadets, attempted to create a world record where more than 5,600 cadets performed Yoga at 14 venues. Governor, V. Shanmuganathan also attended the function to observe Yoga Day organized by the North-Eastern Hill University.
In Haryana, over 3000 people from various walks of life took part in the celebrations. Haryana government will recruit 1,000 Yoga trainers to spread awareness about Yoga in the state.
In Himachal Pradesh’s capital, Shimla, yoga was performed on historical Ridge Maidan where Union Human Resource Development Minister Samriti Irani was also present.
In Maharashtra and Goa, yoga day was celebrated enthusiastically notwithstanding heavy rains.
In Puducherry, Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) Puducherry will soon set up JIPMER Institute of Yoga and Naturopathy in its campus.
Speaking at the National Seminar on Yoga as held as part of the International Yoga Day observation, Dr. SC Parija, Director, JIPMER said that the Institute has already alloted six crore for the upgradation of its Yoga Centre.
