Ex-Indian Hockey Captain Shashi Bala Among 4 Die In Road Accident

Four people, including former Indian hockey team captain and coach Shashi Bala (45) and her son Agrim (17), were killed and four others injured in a road accident in Kahma village on Ropar-Nawanshahr-Phagwara National Highway Sunday.

The other deceased were identified as car driver Attar Singh (35) and one Jiwan Lal (15). The accident occurred when the car, carrying Shashi Bala and her family, collided with a mini truck on the killer stretch.

The daughter of Shashi Bala’s,daughter, who was seriously injured in the mishap, was admitted in a local hospital here.

Three mini truck occupants, Santokh Singh, Lovedeep and Amrik Singh, were also undergoing treatment in the same hospital. As many as 25 people have lost their lives in road accidents on this stretch in this month.
