Kerala Govt To Close Down 10% Of Retail Liquor Outlets

Kerala Excise Minister K. Babu has informed that 10 per cent of the retail liquor outlets run by the government run corporations will be closed down in October this year.

He also pointed out that 53 outlets of the Beverages Corporation in Kerala were closed down earlier as part of the liquor policy.

The Minister said that, the implementation of the liquor policy has helped to decrease the number of alcohol users in the state.

The per cent of people using liquor has come down to 8 per cent from the 17 per cent due to the new policies, he added.

Earlier, the state government has decided to close down all the liquor bars in hotels other than five star hotels in the Kerala.
