Swine Flu menace : Toll crosses 100 in Rajasthan,98 in Gujarat

In Rajasthan, death toll due to swine flu rose to 109 with five more casualties reported Wednesday . Swine flu Task force Head Dr Ashok Panghadia issued instructions that a consultant doctor should be present in the swine flu wards 24 hours.

He also directed to open new intermediate ward at SMS Medical Hospital Jaipur. Principal Secretary Medical Education JC Mohanty said that adequate detection kits have been made available in government hospitals and services of private laboratories are also being outsourced.

Mohanty took action against doctors of SMS Medical Hospital Jaipur for negligence while treating swine flu patients.

Meanwhile,Union Health Minister JP Nadda reviewed the swine flu situation in Gujarat, which has claimed 98 lives in the state so far. He held a review meeting with state Health Minister Nitin Patel and other top officials of the department in Gandhinagar Tuesday and expressed satisfaction over the steps taken by the state government in tackling the disease.

With 10 more deaths reported Tuesday , the total number of swine flu victims has reached 98 in Gujarat so far this year. 120 new cases have been registered in different parts of the state, taking the total number of cases to 951 since January. During his interaction with the media after the meeting, Nadda assured Centre’s help to the state to control the swine flu menace.
