WB Govt To Provide Jobs To Two Lakh People: Mamata

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Tuesday announced creation of two lakh jobs in various government departments in a bid to reduce unemployment in the state.

After chairing a Cabinet meeting with her ministers at ‘Nabanna’, Ms Banerjee told reporters that while 70,000 teachers will be recruited, 60,000 posts each in the group C and group D will be created in various government departments for jobs.

“Two lakh people will be inducted into state services to fill up vacancies, which include 70,000 as teaching staff, 60,000 in group C and 60,000 in group D,” the Chief Minister said.

She also informed enhancement of of salary for Civic Volunteers to Rs 5,500 per month from Rs 28,00 now and 14 days’ paid holiday a year. The Civic Volunteers help city traffic police in all congested traffic area across the city.

“The remunerations for the civic volunteers will be raised from Rs 2,800 to Rs 5,500,” she said. She also informed that eligible civic volunteers will be inducted as home guards in due course.Ms Banerjee said her government will achieve the target of 23 lakh jobs this year in various sectors.
