Odisha: 6 Members Of Family Killed Over Witchcraft Allegations

Six members of a family, including a woman and four children, have been hacked to death inside their house at Munda Sahi village in Joda area of Keonjhar district of Odisha for suspected witchcraft.

Two other members of the family have been seriously injured in the attack.

They are being treated at the district headquarters hospital in Keonjhar.

Preliminary investigation reports reveal that the tribal family was targeted by the villagers, as they suspected them of practicing sorcery or witchcraft.

The villagers have fled, fearing police action. A massive manhunt has been launched to arrest the culprits.

In an another similar incident that occurred yesterday, a man was beaten to death by villagers in Rayagada district, who suspected him of practising witchcraft. The man was then burnt near the village.
