Telangana, AP CMs Take Holy Dips As Godavari Maha Pushkaram Begins On Festive Note

In Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the Godavari Maha Pushkaralu began Tuesday morning on a grand note. The 12-day event began with the Jupiter entering into Zodiac sign- Leo, this morning a little after 6 AM.

It was a sea of humanity that surged River Godavari this morning to have a holy dip during the auspicious moments of the beginning of Pushkaralu.

The Chief Ministers of the two Telugu states and several saints belong to various religious and philosophical matth (schools) have led people in offering special prayers to River Godavari.

Telangana Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao along with his family took a dip in the Pushkar water at Dharmapuri of Karimnagar district while Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu took it at Rajhamundry.

The two Telugu states wore a festive look with state governments making elaborate arrangements at all important towns, habitats and pilgrim places along the course of Godavari right from Kandakurthy in Nizamabad district where it enters Telangana till Antarvedi in East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh where it merges in the Bay of Bengal.

Over 10 crore people are expected to take holy dip in Pushkara Godavari which will continue till 25th of this month.

Over 350 bathing ghats have been set up with all amenities in place like changing rooms, arrangements for special prayers and medical services.

Devotees thronged the temples and pilgrim places along the river on the occasion. While the entire administration in the two states involved in ensuring smooth event, over one lakh police personnel have been deployed for the purpose
