CAG Criticizes Home Ministry For Blockage Of Funds For Procurement Of Arms & Ammunition
24 July, New Delhi
Comptroller and Auditor General, CAG has criticized Home Ministry for blockage of funds due to effective control mechanism for procurement of arms and ammunition. The CAG report was tabled in Parliament Friday.
The scrutiny of records between August 2009 and May 2013 revealed that the payment of 15.58 crore rupees was made as advances to different ordinance factories for supply of arms and ammunitions to a support battalion of Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force, ITBP.
However, the arms and ammunitions was not supplied by the factories, which affected the performance of the force adversely.
The Central Auditor suggested that the Ministry should take effective steps to remove the inefficiencies in the system by making suppliers more accountable and ensure timely supply to ITBP.
