Odisha Trying To Bring Transparency In All Spheres Of Governance: Naveen

The Odisha government is working to bring about absolute transparency in all spheres of governance and empower people through a hassle-free service delivery mechanism, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said.

Addressing a function to observe the Vigilance week here Tuesday Patnaik said the continued emphasis on effective prosecution in courts have started yielding rich dividends and the conviction percentage in Vigilance cases has reached a record 48 per cent this year.

He said the efforts of the government in legislation and implementation have received nationwide recognition and the State Governments of Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Rajastan have enacted similar legislation in the line of the Odisha Special Courts Act.

Patnaik said his government is trying to provide efficient and corruption-free administration to the people of the state and strengthening several institutional mechanism to channel complaints of people into actions to combat and eradicate corruption from the public life.

The Chief Minister said the Central Vigilance Commission has chosen the theme Preventive Vigilance as a tool of Good Governance for the Awareness Week this year.

He said State Vigilance as part of Preventive Vigilance has been conducting simultaneous surprise checks throughout the State in recent past to prevent and detect corruption in various flagship programmes and developmental activities of the State Government .

Congratulating the Vigilance Department for its relentless efforts against corruption Patnaik hoped that it will resolutely continue its good work for rooting out the menace of corruption.
