AIBEA Defers Two- Day Strike From Dec 1

All India Bank Employees’ Association (AIBEA) has announced that the two-day All India Strike from December 1 against the provocative decision of the managements of SBI and Associate Banks to foist the former service conditions on the employees of the latter, has been temporarily deferred.

The strike was deferred after Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner M K Choudhary held a conciliation meeting in New Delhi on November 23, AIBEA General SecretaryCh.Venkatachalam said.

From AIBEA, leaders including Venkatachalam were present in the meeting while the Managements were represented by the Executives of SBI and all Associate Banks along with K S Chauhan, Sr. Vice President, IBA.

Venkatachalam said the AIBEA explained to DY CLC that as per the instructions and orders of SBI management, all the Associate Bank managements have pushed through the SBIs Career Progression Scheme in the Board meetings despite the opposition from our unions and dissent by our Workman Directors.

The Scheme includes additional duties and powers, increased working hours, enlarged mobility, abolition of entire posts of permanent sweepers and outsourcing them besides some extra allowances. We further pointed out that while State Sector Bank Employees Association (SSBEA) was always agreeable to resolve the demands raised by them through bilateral negotiations, the SBI management was adamant by insisting on accepting CPS as a pre-condition to resolve any issue.
