SP Comes In Full Support Of Aamir Khan, Sena Brings Out Mock Funeral Of Aamir
25 November, Lucknow
Ruling Samajwadi Party Wednesday came out in support of Bollywood actor Aamir Khan over his controversial statement of apprehension of threat to his family with welcoming him to live in Uttar Pradesh.
“We welcome Aamir Khan to come to his native place Uttar Pradesh, where he will be safe and get all protection,” announced SP general secretary and senior UP minister Shivpal Singh Yadav in Jaunpur.
Supporting the actor’s statement, Yadav said,” Aamir is telling the truth as intolerance has increased in the country.”
“SP always honoured the artist’s but BJP and RSS were trying to divide the nation on communal lines. Aamir should not leave the country and if he has any fear then he could come to UP, which is his ancestral home.
The dispute arose after Aamir said that his wife Kiran had suggested that they should leave the country in fear of the life of their son due to rising intolerance. Iqhtiyarpur village in Sahabad area of Hardoi district in UP is the ancestral place of the Aamir Khan’s family. Aamir’s uncle Nasir Husain left the village in 1948 to make his career in films and later his father too followed him.
Last year Aamir had adopted his Iqhityarpur village for all round development.
Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav in a statement from New Delhi also supported the actor saying that Aamir has all the right to express his version in a democratic and free country.” The centre should look into the matter as the actor’s family of the actor is scared of the atmosphere in the country,” he stated.
Yesterday senior UP Minister Mohammad Azam Khan had sent a letter to the actor supporting him on the issue.
Meanwhile, the Shiv Sainiks brought out a mock funeral procession of Aamir Khan here today in protest against his comment.
Sena’s UP president Anil Singh alleged that the actor was trying to do politics just for his own vested interest and to stir communal tension in the country.
On the other hand there is a division among the politicial parties in UP on the matter. While BJP was opposed to the statement, Congress was in full support of him.
UP BJP spokesperson Vijay Bahadur Pathak said,” At first I will say that in the federal structure the law and order issue is a matter state matter, hence threat on the life of any person is a sole matter of the particularly state.
“The statement of Aamir Khan is a total political stunt as everyone knows the the DNA of the country has intolerance in it so the actor’s version is totally biased,” Pathak said.
He further said that when UP ministers like Azam Khan himself is apprehending threat on his life regularly then how will the government provide security to others.” UP CM Akhilesh Yadav should first provide security to Azam Khan and then invite others in the state,” he commented over the SP’s invitation to the actor.
UP Congress spokesperson Amarnath Agarwal has, however, criticised the BJP for trying to insult the actor for his honest remarks.” Everyone knows about the changing atmosphere in the country after BJP came to power last year. Bashing Aamir Khan by the BJP leaders and even by several Bollywood stars itself proves that intolerance was gaining ground in the country,” Agarwal said.
