Bengal Gets 2.5 lakh Cr Investment Proposals At 2nd Bengal Summit: Mamata

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that over Rs 2.5 lakh crore investment proposals was received by the state in the two-day Bengal Global Business Summit that ended here Saturday.
Addressing the concluding function Ms Banerjee reiterated that her government would not allow any element to disturb the investors and industrialists and ifany problem crops up it would be sorted in no time.
“As I received notes from the secretaries present here exactly Rs 2,50,104 crore investment proposal was received by the government,” Ms Banerjee announced thanking the captains of industries, delegates and dignitaries from 25 countries who attended the summit.
While dubbing the summit as successful, she also announced that Third such summit will be held on January 20 and 21, 2017.Ms Banerjee said many MoUs and letters of consent had been signed in the past two days, including that of Drukair, Bhutan’s national airlines to use Andal airport but Rs 2.5 lakh crore proposals came from big and medium business houses.
Of them Rs 1.69 lakh crore was for manufacturing units alone, she added.She said more proposal are being compiled by various departments and state Finance Minister Amit Mitra to brief about them.
Ms Banerjee said the business proposals are for all sectors from air to road and water to tourism, cement, mines, health, education and others.She reiterated that Bengal is No 1 gateway to successful businesses because of its geographical location to all the Asian countries.”Bengal is No 1 because it is now an industry friendly state.
It has stability, 5000 acres land for bank, 1 lakh acres more being procured for industries, hasslefree clearance of proposals, surplus power, rich in agriculture, skill and cheap labour force, and no communal tension,” Mr Banerjee, listing positive side of her government, said.
She said despite her government having huge debt burden due to Left Front government’s misrule, so far Rs 1 lakh crore was paid for past four and halfyears as development and industrial progress are main criteria of growth to the present government.
Ms Banerjee assured that the industrialists will have free hand to decide their course of action so that people, the state and country benefits.
