Raj Bhavans Being Used To Unseat Elected Govts By Encouraging Defections, Alleges Omar

On the heels of Union Cabinet recommending impositions of Presidents rule in Arunachal Pradesh, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah today alleged that Raj Bhavans were being used again to unseat elected governments by encouraging defections.

There is something deeply unsettling about the way Raj Bhavans are being used again to unseat elected governments by encouraging defections, Abdullah, who is the working president of National Conference tweeted.

Meanwhile, reacting to a tweet which read, nothing more brazen than how Bharadwaj used Raj Bhavan as Congress headquarters when he was governor of Karnataka, Mr Abdullah said, This is the part I don’t understand. If you guys are going to do the same things then how can you claim to be better.

The Union Cabinet recommended President’s Rule in Arunchal Pradesh, which has been in a political crisis after 21 of the 47 lawmakers of the ruling Congress in the 60-member Assembly last month, joined hands with 11 MLAs from BJP and two Independents in a makeshift Assembly session, chaired by the Deputy Speaker, to ‘oust’ Chief Minister Nabam Tuki.
