Nitish Demands Reservation For EBCs At National Level

24 January, Patna

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Sunday demanded from the Narendra Modi government to provide reservation to Extremely Backward Classes (EBCs) in government services across the country onthe pattern of facilities being given to them in the state.

Kumar, while addressing a function organised here to mark the birth anniversary of former Bihar Chief Minister and great socialist leader Karpoori Thakur, said the Modi government should extend reservation to EBCs in government services at national level if BJP was so concerned to protect their interest.

“EBCs have been given reservation in government services in Bihar and the same should be replicated across the country,” the Chief Minister said, adding that BJP was staking claim for allotment of S K Memorial Hall to organise the function which was earlier allotted to JD(U).

“Had BJP requested JD(U) to hand over the S K Memorial Hall which was allotted to the party, we would have allowed the BJP to use it for the function at our own,” Kumar said, adding that it was the same BJP which had removed Thakur from the post of Chief Minister in 1977-78.
