Allotment of Ghorhaburhani-Sagasahi iron ore mine to be finalised on Feb 25 : Mallick

The name of the qualified bidder for the allotment of Ghorhaburhani-Sagasahi iron ore mine with a reserve of around 100 million ton located in Koida mining sector of Sundergarh district will be announced on February 25, Minister for steel and Mines Prafulla Kumar Mallick said here Monday.

The technical committee headed by mines secretary R K Sharma today evaluated the bidding papers of seven bidders and had sought some clarification before finalising the name of qualified bidder.

As many as seven steel promoters- Essar steel, JSW steel limited, Jindal steel and power limited, Bhushan steel and power limited, Bhushan steel limited, Tata steel and Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd have participated in the bidding. The last date for e-auction was February 10 last.

The Odisha government has issued notification for the e-auction of two mines-Ghorhaburhani-Sagasahi iron ore mine in Sundergarh district and the Garramura lime stone mine in Nuapada district in December last year and the last date for submission was February 10 last.

While seven promoters bid for the Ghorhaburhani-Sagasahi iron ore mine, the Garramuda lime stone block got no response.

The minister said re-tendering of the lime stone block and the base price would be lowered to attract buyers.

Mallick said the next round of the e-auction of the mines is likely to be made in July next.
