01 March, New Delhi

Nationalist Congress Party leader Sharad Pawar today charged the Modi

He also demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi to break his silence and speak up on the recent incidents of communal tension.Addressing mediapersons, Pawar said recent incidents, including death of Dalit scholar Rohith Vemula in Hyderabad and the JNU row indicate that the Centre is playing the communal card and vitiating country’s atmosphere

.”The repercussions of such activities are faced by small groups of people,” he said.”This is not merely restricted to the universities. Maharashtra’s Latur also faced its violent brunt when recently on the occasion of Shivaji Jayanti, a Muslim inspector was forced to dance. BJP is resorting to the policy of adopting different stances at different places. Modi does not speak on such occasions, which worsens the atmosphere,” he said.

He also condemned the hate speech made by MoS HRD Ram Shankar Katheria, besides demanding his resignation.
