Kanhaiya slapped by outsider inside campus

Jawaharlal Nehru University Student Union (JNUSU) President Kanhaiya Kumar was allegedly assaulted this evening by a youth inside the campus.
The incident occurred at around 1830 hrs, when the students’ leader was attending a lecture near AD block on nationalism, along with other students and teachers.
Mohit, a JNU student who was present during the incident, said the assailant, who identified himself as Vikas Chaudhary, called Kanhaiya for conversation and later started hurling abuses on him.
Later, Vikas, allegedly slapped Kanhaiya, following which he was overpowered by students and handed over to the varsity’s security personnel.
According to reports, Vikas has been taken to nearest Police Station, where officials are trying to ascertain the reason behind the alleged assault and his identity.
Kanhaiya Kumar and other five students Rama Naga, Anirban, Ashutosh, Anant Prakash and Umar Khalidwere slapped with sedition charge for allegedly having organised a commemorative event for Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru on February 9 inside the varsity’s campus.
