01, March, Bhopal

An FIR has been lodged against former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh, former Speaker of the state Legislative Assembly Shriniwas Tiwari and 17 others, in connection with alleged irregularities in appointments in the State Assembly Secretariat. Different Sections of the IPC, including Section 420, have been slapped against the accused.

The FIR has been lodged by the State Assembly Secretariat in the capital Bhopal under Jehangirabad police station.

Digvijay Singh was the chief minister of the state from 1993 to 2003.

The state Congress has questioned the filing of an FIR after 12 years in the matter.

The party has alleged that the FIR has been lodged as an act of vendetta against Singh who has targeted chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the Professional Examination Board scam.
