Bill To Replace Coal Mines Ordinance Introduced In Lok Sabha

The Government Monday introduced a Bill in the Lok Sabha to replace the Coal Mines (Special Provisions) second Ordinance, 2014. The Coal Mines (Special Provisions) Bill, 2015 provides for allocation of Coal mines through a transparent bidding process to ensure the continuity in Coal mining operations and for promoting optimum utilization of Coal resources.

Minister of State for Coal, Piyush Goyal, introduced the Bill. A Bill to replace the first ordinance was passed by the Lok Sabha during the winter session and was pending in the Rajya Sabha.

Earlier, the House rejected a statutory resolution moved by the opposition members, which wanted to disapprove the Ordinance.
