Congress announces Sheila Dikshit as Chief Ministerial candidate for UP Assembly elections

Senior Congress leader Sheila Dikshit has been announced as the Chief Ministerial candidate by the party for upcoming Uttar Pradesh Asembly elections.

Party General Secretary Janardan Dwivedi along with Ghulam Nabi Azad announced Dikshit’s name at a press conference in New Delhi this evening.

Speaking to reporters, Sheila Dikshit thanked her party for reposing faith in her. Terming Uttar Pradesh elections as a big responsibility and challenge, she hoped that her party will win.

Asked about Priyanka Gandhi campaigning for the election, the former Delhi Chief Minister said, Priyanka can start campaigning whenever she wished to do so.
