Franco-Indian School of Cinema and TV to come up in Mysuru

Franco Film Society is establishing anInstitute of Cinema and Television with 31 courses in the area ofcinematography, script writing, editing, direction, soundengineering and other fields of film making in the University of Mysore.
The new institution will be offering the certificate coursesincluding Diplomas, undergraduate degrees, Post-graduate degrees andPhD programmes accredited by University of Mysore.
The centre will be developed on 20 acres in the campus with thestate of the art as an ambience of Mini Film City.
“The films are medium that assemble the social values andprinciples. In current scenario, the knowledge and ideologies flowfrom the art of film,” said K A Aravind, novelist from France atfoundation-stone laying ceremony of the Franco-Indian School ofCinema and Television, Mysuru here Friday.
“The social values and fundamentals are the strong materials forany film where it will cater those ideologies in most effective oraesthetic manner. This centre will be the hub for research scholarsand aspirants from all over the world. The concept film institutionis 30 year long dream which has seen foundation stone laying today,”he added.
Earlier M Philip Morice, University of Provence, France said,”This centre of cinema and television will witness the rich historyof Indo-European film heritage where it will deal with building theknowledge and sharing the technology between two countries.”
Chantal Fischer, Chief of Service, Cinema and Audiovisual RegionPACA, France said, “France and India both have the rich history ofproducing films. This centre will act as a bridge between the two countries.”
Dr Tara Michael, Indologist, CNRL, France, Frederique Bianchi,Administration, Coordinator, FIFS, France, M Madhu Thyagarajan,Founder President, Director, FIFS, Prof K S Rangappa, ViceChancellor, University of Mysore and others were present.
