07 November, Bhopal

In Madhya Pradesh, the State government Monday issued gazette notification for instituting a judicial probe into the incident of jail-break by the eight under trails in Bhopal and later their death in an encounter.

Retired justice of the State High Court justice S K Pandey will head the one member commission. He will complete the probe within three months.

The commission will probe the circumstances of the jailbreak and the encounter and fix responsibility of jail officials for jailbreak. It will also probe the rationality of police action in which these under trails were killed.

Eight suspected SIMI operatives had escaped from the Bhopal central jail on the night of 30th October. They were killed in an encounter with police in Manikheda village of Bhopal later.
