11 TDP MLAs Suspended From Telangana Aassembly For Disrespecting National Anthem
09 March, Hyderbad
Telangana Assembly speaker Madhuaudhanachary Monday suspended 11 TDP members from the Assembly for the whole of budget session for disrespecting and dishonoring the national anthem.
Legislative Affairs Minister Harish Rao proposed that the TDP members be suspended for the session from the House as they refused to tender an apology.
The TDP members were alleged to have disrespected the National Anthem after the Governor’s customary speech last Saturday, on the first day of the budget session.
The TDP members did not respond to the appeal from the Speaker to tender an unconditional apology. The Chair announced the suspension when the TDP members were demonstrating in the well of the House and were later sent out by force.
A Congress member, Sampath Kumar tendered apology for his unruly behaviour when the national anthem was being played.
However, opposition leader K Janareddy has demanded that the whole video footage be examined and action taken against all members who disrespected the national anthem, whatever the party they belonged to.
Earlier, the Business Advisory Committee meeting watched the video footage and the House met an hour later than the scheduled time.
