Salman Khan goes to shoot in village, gives houses a makeover by painting walls

Salman Khan has no dearth of fans, but it seems that having crowds outside his Bandra apartment and devoted followers on social media isn’t enough for Bhai. In a bid to win the hearts of those who live in a village in Maharshtra called Hatluni, Khan and the entire unit of Bajrangi Bhaijaan painted the houses for free. Canvas is clearly passé as far as the actor is concerned. Not just that, Khan also gifted saris to women of Hatluni.

Hatluni happens to be a village near Karjat, where Khan is currently shooting for Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Mumbai Mirror informs us that all this painting happened late last month, when Khan, along with a group of hired helps, made sure every house in the village was freshly painted. They also found time to play football with the kids.

According to the Mumbai Mirror report, the leading lady of the film, Kareena Kapoor, and director Kabir Khan didn’t know Bhai had planned this surprise for Hatluni until the very last minute. This is presumably supposed to reassure us that Khan’s generous gesture was not a publicity stunt (ahem). When Kabir Khan and Kapoor learnt about the actor’s plan, they sportingly joined in. In fact, the director also painted some of the walls. Curiously enough, the newspaper had a reporter go to Hatluni — and you thought newspapers can’t afford to invest in genuine reportage — and they reported that “the houses looked picture perfect.” There are also some gushy testimonials from Hatluni residents who met Bhai and were suitably impressed.
