BJP demands probe on senior IPS officer working for ruling BJD
17 February, Bhubaneswar
The Odisha unit of BJP Saturday alleged that a senior IPS officer is pressurising the district Police Superintendents and other police officials to work for the ruling BJD in the ongoing three-tier Panchayat election.
A delegation of the BJP led by party state Spokesperson Sajjan Sharma in a memorandum to the State Election Commission said DIG Law and Order Binayananda Jha was pressurising the SPs and other police officials to have a lenient view of the BJD workers involved in violence during the election.
The memorandum said police was deliberately harassing the BJP leaders, candidates and other office bearers to influence the election and all these are being done on the direction of some of the officials in the Chief Minister’s office.
The memorandum claimed that the BJP has enough evidence against Mr Jha whose action is totally undemocratic, unconstitutional and in violation of law.
The party requested the SEC to immediately intervene in the matter and inquire into the allegation.
