New UP deputy CM Maurya also sold tea like PM Modi

Uttar Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party president Keshav Prasad Maurya, now the deputy CM of UP had also sold tea like Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his father’s tea stall before joining the RSS.

Maurya is Member of Parliament from the Phulpur Lok Sabha constituency in Allahabad district.

On April 8, 2016, Maurya was made the BJP chief of UP, India’s most populous state.

Like his party’s top leader – Prime Minister Narendra Modi – Maurya sold tea in his youth at his father’s stall in their village.

A member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Mr Maurya also participated in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.

Born in 1969, in Sirathu in Kausambhi district, adjoining Allahabad, Maurya went on to study Hindi Literature at the Hindu Sahitya Sammelan in Allahabad. Hailing from a humble farming family, Maurya sold tea and newspapers during his childhood.

He first won the 2012 assembly polls from Sirathu assembly seat and in 2014 won the prestigious Phulpur Lok Sabha seat in Allahabad by record margin.

Maurya is relatively young and his full-timer karyakarta background is expected to boost the morale of the BJP-RSS cadre. Maurya’s pro-Hindutva and clean image helped him to become deputy CM of UP.
