Question hour business of Odisha Assembly stalled by Opposition BJP members

The Question hour business of Odisha Assembly was stalled by the Opposition BJP members who wearing black gowns trooped into the well and disrupted the business of the house demanding a ruling from Speaker Niranjan Pujari for the constitution of a house committee to probe into the suicide of farmers in the state.

Speaker Niranjan Pujari was forced to adjourn the house at 1034 hours for an hour as the agitated BJP members created a ruckus inside the well of the house and insisted on their demand for a ruling from the Speaker about their demand for a probe into the suicide of farmers in the state.

The Speaker requested the agitating BJP members to remove their black gowns after Mr Samir Ranjan Das (BJD ) said wearing of black gowns inside the house is an insult to the house and urged the Speaker to direct the members not to wear black gowns. But the BJP members continued their agitation and did not pay any heed to the Speaker’s request.

The Assembly has been witnessing ruckus for last five days paralysing the functioning of the business over the issue of farmers suicide in the state due to vociferous protest by the Opposition Congress and the BJP members.

The trouble started today when the house met at 1030 hours to take up the question hour business. Soon the BJP members demanded a ruling from the Speaker rushed into the well and shouted anti government slogan.

The Speaker in a bid to run the business asked Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Kumar Das Burma to reply to a question. As the Minister stood up to reply, the BJP members who ere in the well, created a ruckus in the house forcing the Speaker adjourn the house at 1034 hours.
The matter was however, later subsided when the house reassembled at 1134 hours and took up the admissibility of an adjournment motion moved by the Opposition and which was later adopted as a motion and debated in the house.BM
