Railway Connectivity To Capital Cities Of NE States By 2020

Indian Railways said that most of the capitals of North Eastern states will have railway connection by 2020.
Northeast Frontier Railway General Manager (Construction) Rajesh Kumar Singh said at Silchar that all capital cities of North-eastern States, including Sikkim, will be under Indian Railways map by 2020.
According to railway officials, the railway department has started ‘Mission 2020’ and it will implement it very strictly within the stipulated time frame. Under this mission, first of all, Agartala, capital of Tripura will be under broad gauge connection by March 2016.
By the March 2017, railway will provide rail connectivity up to Tupul in Manipur and Within March 2018, BG line will reach up to Sairang, near Aizawl. The work for setting up of a new line from Tupul to
Imphal will be finished by March, 2019 and by March 2020, railway lines will be up to Shillong in Meghalaya and Rangpo in Sikkim , officials said.
