Telangana CM Urges Center To Increase Haj Slots

Telangana Chief Minister Chandrasekhara Rao has urged the centre to increase the Haj slots allotted to the state for the current year.

He has written a letter to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to this effect Sunday evening.

The Chief Minister has stated that the number of seats allotted to the state has come down from that of the number it was in combined Andhra Pradesh.

He said 5,580 seats were allotted for the combined state last year whereas it came down to about only 2700 seats for Telangana this time.

Stating that more than 15 thousand people applied for Haj this year, he said it made 12 persons vying for each seat. He also said the situation in Hyderabad is acute with 23 persons applied for each seat.
