Kerala Assembly Adjourned Sine Die Amid Ruckus

Kerala Legislative Assembly was Monday adjourned sine die after passing the Kerala Appropriation Bill,2015 and Vote on Account bill,2015.

As soon as the House assembled today, the Opposition Left Democratic Front members trooped into the well of the House, shouting slogans. They also carried banners demanding the resignation of Finance Minister K M Mani over the bar bribery case.

Amidst the opposition protests, Speaker N Sakthan cancelled Question Hour, Submissions and Calling Attention. Finance Minister K M Mani introduced the Kerala Appropriation Bill and Vote on Account.

Earlier, a meeting of legislative party leaders was convened by the Speaker Monday morning for the smooth conduct of the legislative proceedings, failed in reaching a consensus.

As per schedule, the session was to continue up to the 9th of next month. The Assembly session began on the 6th of this month, with the Governor’s address.

Addressing a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said, the budget session had to be curtailed due to the non-cooperation of the Opposition.

However, leader of Opposition, V S Achuthanandan declared that they will continue their protest till K M Mani is ousted from the State Cabinet.
