Opposition In Odisha Intensifies Agitation Against Power tariff Hike

Opposition Congress and BJP in Odisha have intensified their agitation against power tariff in the state.

The BJP Friday staged a demonstration in front of the Raj Bhawan at Bhubaneswar demanding rollback of the decision. Scores of senior party leaders and workers squatted in front of Raj Bhavan to protest the decision to raise power tariff.

A delegation of the party also submitted a memorandum to Governor SC Jamir on the issue.

The Congress party is also gearing up for a state-wide protest rally demanding rollback of the power tariff hike.

The party has announced that demonstrations will be organised in all 30 district headquarters towns in Odisha on Monday. Meanwhile, the Odisha Power Consumers’ Federation has also called for a state-wide bandh on Tuesday in protest against power tariff hike.
Meanwhile, the state assembly witnessed chaotic scenes for the third consecutive day over the hike in power tariff. Opposition members protested the decision and created pandemonium, forcing the speaker to adjourn the house till Monday.
