Bandh In Tamilnadu Protesting Karnataka Govt.’s Decision To Construct Dam Across Cauvery

Farmers Associations and various trade unions In Tamilnadu have called for a state wide bandh to protest against Karnataka’s decision to construct a dam across Cauvery at Mekadatu.

The protest is supported by opposition political parties in the state.

The State Assembly had adopted an unanimous resolution condemning the action of Karnataka and has postponed today’s session.

Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan has said that there is no need to protest on the issue. But traders all across the State have closed down shutters to express solidarity with the farmers
