Assam Achieves Success In Mulberry , Silk Production

Assam has achieved success in Mulberry and Eri silk production during last couple of year.

Assam has produced 2514 metric tonnes of Eri and 340 metric tonnes of Mulberry in 2013 .

Official sources said that in 2014 the production of Eri has gone up to 3182 metric tonnes while 340 metric tonnes of Mullberry silk has been produced in that period.

Assam has contributed the major share in Eri ,Muga and Mulberry silk in country’s total production.

The use of these silk reflects the culture and tradition of Assamese society and also occupies a unique place in the socio-economic life of the people of the state.
