Adoor Gopalkrishnan Conferred With Biswaratna Dr.Bhupen Hazarika International Solidarity Award

Internationally acclaimed filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan was conferred with Bishwaratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika International Solidarity award in Guwahati Sunday evening.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi gave away the award in presence of several dignitaries. The award was initiated by the Asam Sahitya Sabha in association with Numaligarh Refinery Limited.

Speaking on the occasio9n , Gopalakrishan said that Dr Bhupen Hazarika was involved in all sphere of cultural activities.

He said that Dr Hazarika was a real icon of Assamese cinema and culture. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said that both Dr. Hazarika and Gopalakrishnan have contributed for the development of the society.

He said that the Assam government has taken step to give an international award in the memory of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika.
