WB Election Commission Rejects Allegations On Terrorising Elections By Ruling TMC

The West Bengal Election Commission has rejected the opposition’s allegations on terrorising the elections by ruling Trinamool Congress activists .

The State Election Commissioner Susanta Ranjan Uppadhya said that he sought report from the District administrations and it was not substantiated.

Uppadhya told that video footage during filling of nominations and withdrawal of candidature also did not confirm the opposition allegations on forceful withdrawal of nominations by the ruling party workers.

The State Election Commissioner said that the West Bengal government will take up the issue for deployment of Para – Military forces with the Centre for the ensuing Municipal polls.

The commission has asked 100 companies of Central forces for the elections. The opposition parties have alleged that in many areas they could not put up candidates following threats and forceful withdrawal of nominations from ruling Trinamool Congress.

However, the ruling party also denied the allegations and said that oppositions are raising baseless issues as they are losing the ground.

The elections for Kolkata Municipal Corporation will take place on 18th and voting in 91 municipalities will be held on 25th of next month. The ruling Trinamool Congress has already won unopposed in three municipalities.
