Top NCP Leaders To Meet At National Convention In Patna On May 11

Top NCP leaders, including its president Sharad Pawar, former Union Minister Praful Patel and others would participate in the NCP National Convention to be held in Patna on May 11.

Announcing this here today at a press conference, NCP general secretary and former Union Minister Tariq Anwar said NCP supports Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s objection to the14th Finance Commission recommendation.

Quoting media reports, he said although the Centre had increased states’ tax share from 32 to 42 per cent, allocations for BRGF, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Mid-day meal scheme, Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana, NRHM, Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana and other Centrally-sponsored schemes have been reduced leading to annual loss of nearly Rs 10000crore to Bihar.

Anwar claimed that the Modi government has proved to be a failure in protecting the constitution and its provisions.

Referring to statements of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and Subramaniam Swamy that ‘India is a Hindu nation’ and ‘God lives in temples alone and not in churches and mosques’ he said, “Modi government can’t overlook or neglect such statements”.

The NCP leader wondered whether the Centre was not displaying its lack of sensitiveness towards its constitutional responsibilities. “India is gradually emerging as an intolerant society, while the Centre is sitting tight over disintegration in society,” he noted.
