UNESCO Pats India For Reducing Out Of School Children By Over 90 Per cent

India has made a significant progress in increasing the net ratio of children in primary education globally.

UNESCO’s 2015 Education for All, EFA global Monitoring Report, which was released by Minister of Human Resource Development, HRD Smriti Irani in New Delhi Thursday showed that India has reduced its out of school children by over 90 percent and achieved most prominent goal of universal primary education.

Globally, just one third of countries have achieved all of the measurable Education for All goals set in 2000. While releasing the report, HRD Minister Smriti Irani said that India has successfully moved toward reaching the EFA goals especially backed by the Right of Children to free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009.

According to the report India saw substantial improvement in nearly all aspects of school facilities and infrastructure. Reports also mentioned that 45 percent of school now have electricity compare to 20 percent.

The one measurable EFA goal India did not reach was to reduce its adult illiteracy by 50 percent . Since 2000 India has reduced its adult illiteracy rate by 26 percent.
