Women’s Reservation Bill To Be Tabled In Parliament After Careful Consideration : Union Law Minister

The Central Government Thursday said , Women’s Reservation Bill will be tabled in Parliament after careful consideration.

The bill seeks to provide 33 per cent reservation to women in Lok Sabha and state assemblies. In a written statement in the Lok Sabha, Law Minister D V Sadananda Gowda informed that it has been the endeavor of the government to provide for reservation of one-third seats for women in Lok Sabha and state assemblies.

He said the issue involved needs careful consideration on the basis of consensus among all political parties before a bill for amendment in Constitution is brought before Parliament.

The Bill had lapsed following the dissolution of the 15th Lok Sabha. The Rajya Sabha passed the Bill in March 2010.
