Two teachers from Odisha receive national awards

Two teachers from Odisha were among 44 teachers who were presented national teacher awards by President Ram Nath Kovind on Sunday on the occasion of Teachers Day.

Ashok Kumar Satpathy , Teacher Zilla Government School in  the Bhadrakh district and Ajit Kumar Sethy ,serving as Acting Head Master at Government UP School, Kanamana in the  District of Ganjam of Odisha  were the recipients of national teacher awards.

In view of Covid-19 pandemic, the awards function was held in a virtual mode.

A science teacher passionate about providing equitable opportunities to under privileged students, Ashok Satpathy has mobilised support from his school alumini to improve school infrastructure including Computer Labs, ICT equipments and scholarships for meritorious students.

Similarly, Ajit Sethy is a Music Teacher. He has innovated with inter-disciplinary styles by using his musical instruments as ‘props’ to help students understand abstract concepts in Science, Mathematics, Geography etc.

Sethy also uses innovative methods to develop problem solving and critical thinking mindset among his students.

The Ministry of Education gives national awards to teachers every year to celebrate the unique contribution of some of the finest teachers in the country and to honour those teachers who through their commitment and hard work have not only improved the quality of school education but also enriched the lives of their students.

The awards are given to the best teachers of the country selected through a transparent online 3 stage selection process.

Every awardee receives a medal along with a certificate of recognition and a cash price of Rs 25,000.
