First session of NITI Ayog : PM takes experts’ views on strategies to put Indian Economy on high growth path

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday met eminent economists and experts at National Institution for Transforming India, NITI Aayog in Delhi. The meeting was called to seek their suggestions for forthcoming budget.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and experts including Mukesh Butani, Nitin Desai, Parthasarathi Shome attended the meeting. The Narendra Modi government set up the NITI Aayog by replacing Planning Commission last month.

Later, talking to media, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said, extensive suggestion have been received from the economists on how to put the Indian economy on high growth path.

Jaitley said, financing infrastructure, attracting investment, boosting domestic savings and state for agriculture was also thoroughly discussed. Suggestions were also received on bringing down poverty level and effective implementation of the flagship programmes of the Centre.
