Union Ministers Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Ashwini Vaishnaw flag off train dedicated to PMBJP from New Delhi

Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw flagged off a train dedicated to the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP), from New Delhi today. This Chhattisgarh Samparkranti Express train has been wrapped with the branding of the Jan Aushadhi scheme to spread the awareness among public about generic medicines available at Jan Aushadhi centres. The medicines are available in more than nine thousand Jan Aushadhi centres at affordable prices.

 

According to the Health and Railways Ministry, this train will travel from 184 stations covering more than four States in two months. Also, a similar train from Pune to Danapur has been flagged off covering four States.

 

On this occasion, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya said, Jan Aushadhi centres provide quality and affordable medicines. He said, more than nine thousand Jan Aushadhi centres are operating to provide quality medicines at affordable prices. He also said that Railways is also carrying a special campaign for the publicity of affordable generic medicines to create awareness among the public. Dr. Mandaviya said, the Railways Ministry has decided to open Jan Aushadhi centres at some big railway stations which will prove beneficial for the commuters.

 

The Government has set a target to increase the number of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras to 10 thousand by the end of this year. Medicines available at Jan Aushadhi Kendra are priced 50 to 90 percent less than the prices of branded medicines.
