Nitin Gadkari’s Ministry releases Policy guidelines or standards for utilising eco-friendly materials in construction of National Highways

New Delhi, March 15

Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has said that his Ministry has released Policy guidelines or standards for utilising eco-friendly materials in construction of National Highways.

In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today, Mr. Gadkari said, eco-friendly materials such as fly ash, iron and steel slag, construction and demolition waste, recycled asphalt pavement, geo-synthetics, waste plastic, emulsion based cold mix and warm mix asphalt are being used in construction of National Highways.

He said, the aims and objectives of using such waste material are to reduce cost of construction, conservation of natural resources of the country and to promote sustainability.
