Al-Qaeda operative arrested by Delhi Police from Vikas Marg

Delhi Police has arrested a suspected al-Qaeda operative from the national capital.

The 27 year old suspect was arrested from Shakarpur area yesterday by Delhi Police’s Special Cell following a tip-off. He was produced before Additional Sessions Judge in Delhi who remanded him to police custody till 30th of this month.

Briefing reporters in New Delhi, DCP Special Cell P S Kushwaha said the terrorist is a British national of Bangladeshi origin and has been associated with Al Qaeda since 2013. He said the suspect wants to establish his base in North East to recruit and send people to Myanmar to fight against army for Rohingyas.

Mr. Kushwaha informed that one pistol, laptop, mobile, Bangladeshi sim card and foreign currency have been recovered from his possession.

Last month, two men with suspected links to the terror outfit were also arrested in Delhi in two separate cases.
