Angry Roopa Ganguly tore off Trinamool banner after being denied to rally by police

04 February, Kolkata

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mahila Morcha chief Roopa Ganguly today sparked a fresh row after she allegedly tore off a Trinamool Congress banner at Lake Town area in North 24 Parganas district.

Condemning this incident, local Trinamool MLA Sujit Basu said, We do not tolerate this kind of unpleasant activity of Roopa Ganguli. Mamata Banerjee is our leader and tearing off Trinamool banner is an insult of her.

Protesting the alleged women harassment across the state, the BJP has been organising a rally from Kamduni to Kakdwip since yesterday. On the second day today the rally was scheduled to march in places like Baguihati and Laketown. But the movement led by actor-turned-politician Roopa Ganguly faced opposition allegedly from police at Baguihati, also in North 24 Parganas. Ms Ganguly alleged that she was prevented to move by the police in the middle of their rally.
